Bringchange2mind

Glenn and Jessie Close have launched a really interesting new mental health campaign called bringchange2mind.

“1 in 6 adults and almost 1 in 10 children suffer from a diagnosable mental illness. Yet, for many, the stigma associated with the illness, can be as great a challenge as the disease itself. This is where the misconceptions stop. This is where bias comes to an end. This is where we change lives. Because this is where we Bring Change 2 Mind.”

    Julie said,

I just wanted to thank you for this wonderful website. I have worked in mental health for over ten years as a psychiatric nurse. I also coordinate the mental health department at a nursing school. I will be passing on this information to all of my future students.

Thanks for helping to decrease the stigma of mental health. I tell my students almost weekly that mental illness is just the brain not functioning correctly. We take care of patients with hearts that don’t work properly and patients with a pancreas, liver, or kidneys with dysfunction. All needed to be treated with the same dignity and respect even if the signs and symptoms of the diseases/disorders are different.

    Best wishes to you.

I just wanted to say this website is wonderful. I love the title”Bring change to Mind”. It sounds less frightening with that title. It is such a great feeling that mental illness is being reconized on T.V. It is an illness that needs to be heard about. We need better treatment and should be made to feel like a whole person. I have bipolar disorder and every day can be a challenge. I am in Recovey, working part-time and I am a productive member of society. I wish Glenn Close or Jessie could e-mail me.I just want to thank them from the bottom of my heart.
The ad on T.V. shows it effects the individual and the family members. The ad is perfect wtih the music which is sending a strong message. Also the background with people showed strength in numbers.
    Thank you so much.
    Sincerely,
    Rachel
Keep up the great work with this campaign
